Bringing Anthropology & Theology Together Since its founding, the Center for Theologically Engaged Anthropology at the University of Georgia has worked diligently to bring about a new turn in the anthropology of religion that will improve our understanding of contemporary religious groups by centering theological commitments, approaching theological alterity with greater empathy, and seeking richer ways to address the conditions under which our interlocutors build notions of good lives and religious praxis. Theologically Engaged Anthropology represents a theoretical strain that aims to build interdisciplinary dialogue and expand the analytical strength of its related fields.
