Slideshow

Online via Zoom

Hosted by the Cambridge Anthropology Theology (CAT) Network, Professor Derrick Lemons will discuss his recent fieldwork amongst Evangelical Trump voters in the States. Learn how, through strategies of interpretation and prophecy, evangelical Americans transformed their metaphysical sources of truth regarding the election.

As is standard for CAT Network events, the 15-minute talk will be immediately followed by a response. This session’s respondent is Dr Sam Victor, a postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University. Sam will draw on his own ethnographical research with Protestant Evangelicals in Nashville, an exploration of how their epistemologies changed following the rejection of the so-called literalist reading of the Bible.
