A number of CTEA affiliated scholars traveled to Santa Barbara, California for the Biennial Conference of the Society for the Anthropology of Religion. The conference theme was Religiosities, Ecologies, and Environmentalisms in the Age of the Anthropocene. For the first time in its history, SAR collaborated with the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature, and Culture (ISSRNC) to host the conference and build networks across scholars. 

Dr. Derrick Lemons presented a piece of his research on the theological paradigms used by Trump's political team and their far-reaching societal impacts entitled "President Trump’s Faith Advisory Team’s Influence on National Politics."

Dr. Hannah Grace Howard presented preliminary research for her proposed second project on the intersections of theology, political identity, and climate change entitled "Up in Smoke:  Wildfires and the Loss of Religious Sites as National Heritage in Greece."

CTEA affiliated graduate students from the University of Cambridge, Susie Triffit and Viola Clark-Gould, organized a panel entitled "Creator and Created: Exploring the Interplay Between Believers and their God/s in a Fragile World." They were joined in this panel by CTEA Senior Fellow Amira Mittermaier.
